What to Expect
What is our mission?
The mission of St. Paul’s, guided by the Spirit, is to worship God joyfully; to share the teachings of Christ; to provide an environment of acceptance, generosity, peace, love, and hope; to serve our church, our community, and the world in the Name of Jesus. We respect the dignity of all persons regardless of national origin, race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. All are welcome to participate fully in all areas of our parish life.
What can I expect at a service?
We follow the Episcopal Church’s Book of Common Prayer for all of our worship services. Our worship is rooted in the ancient traditions of the church. It is joyful, participatory, and engages all the senses. Our newly refurbished organ leads us in songs and hymns, and you will encounter meaningful prayers and a challenging and encouraging sermon. You can expect a warm community that will be glad to have you as our guest.
How should I dress?
On most Sunday mornings, you will find others in typical “Sunday dress” appropriate for the weather. For the 5:00pm Sunday Evening service, you are encourage to come exactly as you are, or what you are most comfortable in — whether that is shorts and t-shirt, work clothes, or three-piece suit. You'll be welcome however you choose to come.
What options are there for children on Sunday mornings?
Children and young families are welcome at all of our Sunday services. We are thankful for the presence of children among us!
We encourage children and families to worship together on Sunday, and families may wish to sit toward the front so that young children can take in the beauty of worship.
That said, we also realize that some parents and guardians may want to have some time to themselves. We have a staffed nursery for children under 5 available from 9:15am - 11:15am, which allows adults to attend Sunday School on their own and greet their children in time to partake in Communion together as a family.
For elementary children 5 and older, we have “Bible Explorers” Sunday School from 9:30am-10:30am.
For Jr. High and Sr. High teens, we have Youth Sunday that also starts at 9:30am and also encourage teens to serve as acolytes, choristers, and readers at the 10:30 service, if they wish.
